Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 3 November 2026
This is a translation. The Italian version prevails, except where mandatory consumer protection rules say otherwise (see section 16).
1. Who we are
The website meetmysugar.com (the "Service") is run jointly by its Operators (the "Operators", "we").
Single point of contact for users and authorities (Articles 11 and 12 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065, the "DSA"): [email protected]. Languages accepted: Italian and English.
The Service is currently provided free of charge and on a non-commercial basis. The Operators may transfer the running of the Service to a company they set up or control (see section 17).
2. Acceptance
By creating an account you declare that you have read and accept these Terms and that you have read the Privacy Notice and the Cookie Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service. Simply browsing the site without an account is subject to sections 7, 11, 12 and 15 where applicable.
3. What the Service is, and what it is NOT
3.1. The Service is an online platform that hosts profiles and messages created by its users, so that adults can meet and talk to each other. Users freely describe themselves, their lifestyle and the kind of relationship they are looking for.
3.2. With respect to users' content, the Operators act solely as providers of a hosting service under Article 6 DSA. The Operators do not create, select or edit the content users publish, are not a party to any relationship, arrangement or meeting between users, do not act as intermediaries, agents or guarantors, and receive no payment connected to relationships or meetings between users.
3.3. The Service is not an escort service, paid companionship service or marriage agency, and may not be used to offer, request, advertise, organise or in any way facilitate sexual services in exchange for money, gifts or any other benefit. Any such use is prohibited, leads to the immediate closure of the account and, where the law requires it, to a report to the authorities.
3.4. The Operators have no general obligation to monitor content or to actively look for facts or circumstances indicating illegal activity (Article 8 DSA). Any voluntary checks do not change this (Article 7 DSA).
4. Who may use the Service
By creating an account you declare and guarantee, under your sole responsibility, that:
a) you are at least 18 years old and have full legal capacity;
b) using the Service is lawful in the country you access it from. The Service can be reached from many countries, but what is lawful in one may not be in another: complying with local law is up to you;
c) you have never been convicted of offences against the person, sexual offences or exploitation offences, and you are not subject to any measure forbidding you to contact other people;
d) you have not previously had an account on the Service closed;
e) the information you provide is true, accurate and up to date.
A false declaration leads to the immediate closure of the account. You are also personally liable for it, including towards the Operators (see section 12).
5. Account
5.1. Your account is personal and not transferable. One account per person.
5.2. You must keep your credentials safe. You are responsible for everything that happens through your account, unless you show that you lost control of it through no fault of your own and told us straight away.
5.3. You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings or by writing to [email protected].
6. Your content
6.1. You are solely responsible for the text, photos, messages and any other content you publish or send through the Service. You guarantee that:
- the content is about you and is true;
- you hold all the necessary rights, including to the photos, and do not infringe anyone else's rights (image, privacy, copyright, honour and reputation);
- it does not show other people without their consent, and never minors;
- it is not unlawful and does not breach these Terms.
6.2. You keep ownership of your content. You grant us a non-exclusive, free, worldwide and revocable licence (revoked by deleting the content or the account) to host, reproduce, technically adapt (resizing, blurring, compression) and display it, solely to run and promote the Service according to the visibility settings you have chosen.
6.3. The "verified" badge only means that the verification photo (your face, holding a sheet of paper reading "meetmysugar") was compared by eye with the profile photos. It is not a check of a person's identity, age, criminal record, intentions or trustworthiness.
6.4. Do not send us identity documents. We do not ask for them and, if we receive them, we delete them without looking at them.
7. Prohibited conduct
On or through the Service it is forbidden to:
- offer, request, advertise or hint at sexual services in exchange for money, gifts or other benefits; state prices, rates, "packages" or payment for time or meetings;
- post any content or make any contact involving minors, even by allusion;
- post nudity or sexually explicit content, in photos or in messages;
- put phone numbers, messaging app usernames, external links or other contact details in your profile;
- ask for or send money, transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, advances, loans, bank details or documents;
- commit fraud, create fake profiles, steal identities or use other people's photos;
- harass, threaten or blackmail, use hateful or discriminatory language, or share other people's private data or images (including after a meeting);
- use the Service on behalf of third parties or for commercial purposes, including agencies, "managers" and recruiters;
- spam, send messages automatically, scrape, get around limits or security measures, or access other people's accounts;
- carry out any other activity that is unlawful under Italian law or the law of the country you access the Service from.
8. Relationships and meetings between users
8.1. Every contact, conversation, arrangement, meeting or relationship between users happens under the sole responsibility of the users involved. The Operators do not take part in them, do not organise them and are not liable for them.
8.2. The Operators do not check users' identity, real age, record, health, intentions or statements and give no guarantee whatsoever about users' behaviour, online or offline.
8.3. You decide whether, where and how to meet someone. We encourage you to follow the advice on the Safety page, to meet in public places and never to send money.
8.4. If you are the victim of, or a witness to, a crime, contact the authorities straight away (112 in the EU). You may also report it to us, but we do not replace the police.
9. Reports and moderation
9.1. Reports. Anyone, even without an account, can report content they believe to be unlawful or contrary to these Terms through the "Report" link or the Report a profile page, stating where the content is (link or profile name), why they believe it is unlawful and, if they wish, their name and email (Article 16 DSA). We confirm receipt when an email is given and decide in a timely, diligent and non-arbitrary way.
9.2. What we can do. If content or behaviour breaks the law or these Terms we may, at our discretion and in proportion to how serious it is: remove or hide content, limit the visibility of the profile, limit sending messages, withdraw the verified badge, suspend or close the account, and prevent new accounts from being created. In serious cases (minors, exploitation, violence, fraud) we act without notice.
9.3. Tools. Moderation is done by people. We use automatic rules only to limit spam (for example the number of new conversations a day for unverified accounts), not to decide removals or closures. Private messages are read only when they are the subject of a report or when it is necessary to establish a serious breach that has already come to light.
9.4. Reasons and appeal. When we take a measure against you, we tell you by email what the measure is, the facts and the reason (Article 17 DSA), unless the law forbids it or it would compromise an investigation. You can contest the decision within 6 months by writing to [email protected]: where possible, it will be reviewed by a different person from the one who took it. Your rights before the courts are unaffected.
9.5. Authorities. If we become aware of information giving rise to a suspicion of a criminal offence that threatens a person's life or safety, we inform the competent authorities (Article 18 DSA). We cooperate with judicial and police authorities within the limits of the law.
10. Availability of the Service
The Service is free and is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, limit, suspend or stop it, in whole or in part, permanently included, at any time. If we close it for good we will, where possible, give 30 days' notice so you can save your data. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, error-free or suited to your purposes, nor that you will find someone.
11. Limitation of liability
11.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Operators are not liable for:
a) content, statements, conduct, omissions or offences of users or third parties, online or offline, including harm to people or property arising from meetings;
b) unlawful content hosted at users' request, unless, having actually become aware of it, they failed to act promptly to remove it (Article 6 DSA);
c) interruptions, delays, data loss, malfunctions, cyber attacks or problems with technical suppliers, where these are not due to the Operators' wilful misconduct or gross negligence;
d) indirect or consequential damage and loss of profit.
11.2. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the Operators' liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence (Article 1229 of the Italian Civil Code), for personal injury caused by them, or the rights that the law grants consumers and that cannot be waived.
12. Indemnity
You agree to hold the Operators harmless from any damage, penalty, claim or cost, including reasonable legal fees, arising from: (a) content you have published or sent; (b) your breach of these Terms or of the law; (c) false statements made when signing up, in particular about your age; (d) your dealings with other users. Mandatory consumer protection law is unaffected.
13. Intellectual property
The name, logo, design, texts and software of the Service, excluding users' content, belong to the Operators or their licensors. You may not copy them, extract them in bulk or reuse them without written permission.
14. Changes to the Terms
We may change these Terms for legal, technical or security reasons, or because the Service changes. Substantial changes will be announced by email or on the site at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not accept them, you can delete your account before that date. Changes required by law or for users' safety may take effect immediately.
15. Governing law and jurisdiction
15.1. These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU country, the mandatory rules of your country still apply.
15.2. For consumers, the competent court is that of the consumer's place of residence or domicile (Article 66-bis of the Italian Consumer Code).
15.3. European ODR platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr (while available).
16. Final provisions
If a clause is void or ineffective, the others remain valid. Our not enforcing a right straight away does not mean we waive it. These Terms are written in Italian; if a translation differs, the Italian version prevails, except for mandatory consumer protection rules.
17. Assignment
You agree now that the Operators may assign these Terms, and their relationship with you, to a company they set up or control that takes over running the Service. We will tell you by email or on the site at least 30 days beforehand. If you do not agree, you can delete your account.
